ABOUT US
The Winery of Good Hope is more than just a winery. It’s an approach. An alternative way of thinking, being and doing. Yes, you will find us in the prestigious wine-making region of Stellenbosch, in South Africa’s Cape of Good Hope. But we aren’t like other wine producers. Why? Because we’re not into all the flashy stuff that’s often associated with our industry. We want to make quality wine with a conscience. At our cellar on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, we make great wines using traditional, natural viticultural and winemaking methods. We’re also fully accredited for environmental, ethical, and social-upliftment practices. That’s why we called ourselves The Winery of Good Hope.
Radford Dale , our parent company, is committed to sustainable consumerism. “As a society we’ve been pretty complacent about the environment – and much of what is out there is greenwashing and chest beating. Rather, we need to be authentic. We have a responsibility to ourselves and to our community. To become fully sustainable will take time, years, but we must commit to the process and do it." (Alex Dale, Founder)
THE WINERY OF GOOD HOPE’S PLANET-FRIENDLY LIGHTWEIGHT BOTTLE RE-LAUNCH.
The new packaging for The Winery of Good Hope - launched in July 2024 - is an important step. The packaging has been overhauled with a focus on sustainability. This includes all recyclable, lightweight bottles, labels, stickers and cardboard boxes, which in turn use both recyclable sealing tape and internal dividers. The design itself conveys this message of ‘weightlessness’ with a clean script floating on a white background.
And it will be followed by the phasing-in of lighter packaging across all of our ranges, including our most premium.”
This we believe, is simply a philosophy of care.
